Volleyball Recap: Lincoln Trojans vs. Freeport Bulldogs
Lincoln's tournament run continued when they took on Freeport on Saturday. The Trojans fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mackenzie Poppell paced Lincoln's offense, picking up 14 kills. Poppell got some help from Savannah Weiss and her 36 assists. Weiss was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.
Freeport was led to victory by Kaylee Worrell and Kiaya Johnson. Worrell had 24 digs and four assists, while Johnson had 14 digs and two aces. Those 24 digs gave Worrell a new career-high.
Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Freeport, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Looking ahead, Lincoln will venture away from home to take on FAMU DRS at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freeport, they will square off against Rutherford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
