Volleyball Recap: Archie Whirlwinds vs. Drexel Bobcats
Archie had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Drexel Bobcats with a sharp 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Whirlwinds also won the last time the pair played back in September.
Archie never let Drexel on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-7, 25-12.
Morgan Mattingley paced Archie's offense, picking up 14 kills. Mattingley got some help from
Reagan Tenholder and her 20 assists.
Tayler Essenpries controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Drexel lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Grace Francis, who had nine digs and two blocks. That's the most blocks Francis has posted in her last six matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Richardson, who had 11 digs and two kills.
Archie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8-1 record this season. As for Drexel, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-10-1.
Archie has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Jasper on the 31st. Drexel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
