Softball Recap: Franklin-Simpson's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Franklin-Simpson had lost six games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 13-21 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Ohio County Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in March.

Franklin-Simpson got a great performance from Hester Blanckenberg as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Holland, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Kaitlyn Woodall was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Ohio County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-16-1. The defeat was just more heartbreak for they who fell 3-1 when the teams previously met back in April of 2022.

On Ohio County's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Graves (2025), who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Looking ahead, Franklin-Simpson will be playing at home against Bowling Green at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ohio County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Butler County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.23 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
