Softball Recap: Kankakee Valley Takes a Loss

Kankakee Valley and Hanover Central squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Kankakee Valley had to settle for second. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The defeat continues a trend for the Kougars in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Mallorie Rose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Kankakee Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anika Oezer, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Kankakee Valley's loss dropped their record down to 19-10. As for Hanover Central, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-6.

Kankakee Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hanover Central, they will take on Griffith at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
