Softball Recap: Caldwell County Takes a Loss

Caldwell County fell victim to McCracken County and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Alexis Wood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caldwell County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harper Holeman, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Caldwell County's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for McCracken County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 19-5 record this season.

Caldwell County will take on Calloway County in a tournament on Saturday. The Tigers are facing the Lakers at the right time seeing as the Lakers are stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for McCracken County, they will face off against Christian County at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Colonels' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
