Meanwhile, Caliche didn't have quite enough to beat Akron on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While the Buffaloes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rams 25-21 in the first set.
Caliche took Akron into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-20, 25-14, 22-25, 15-10.
Wiggins' victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Caliche, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Everything went Wiggins' way against Caliche in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, as Wiggins made off with a 3-0 win.
