Football Recap: Cheraw Runs Past Wiley + How To Watch

Cheraw played against Wiley on Friday and won via forfeit.

Samuel Goheen had a dynamite game, picking up 72 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also rushing for 43 yards. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making seven total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cheraw was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Cheraw, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of William Ledbetter, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Wiley still got an impressive performance from Grant Mauch, who rushed for 235 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 190 yards and four TDs. Mauch has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

Cheraw's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Wiley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheraw will welcome Deer Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. As for Wiley, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Flagler at 6:00 p.m.
