Softball Game Preview: North Rockland Raiders vs. Warwick Wildcats

The North Rockland Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Warwick Wildcats at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. North Rockland's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Warwick's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

North Rockland is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Ketcham just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Storm, falling 7-1.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Warwick duked it out with Monticello on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 13-0 shutout. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jalyn Rosario was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rylee Moore was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Etta Garofalo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Warwick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

North Rockland's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Warwick, their record now sits at 3-4.
