On Tuesday, West Florida Baptist Academy came up short against Lighthouse Private Christian Academy and fell 6-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Conquerors in their meetings with the Stingrays: they've now lost three in a row.
West Florida Baptist Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Hughes, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, East Hill Christian brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They blew past Gulf Pointe Latin 13-3 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Harrison Fullerton and Charlie Hall were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Fullerton struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Hall struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. At bat, Fullerton scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Hall got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That hit was Fullerton's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach McDaniel, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabe Staneart, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
East Hill Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
East Hill Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
