Kempsville had won three straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 14-8 to make it four. They blew past the Salem Sundevils 9-0. The Chiefs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

As for Salem, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14.

For Salem's part, Lauren Burchuk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and eight unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks. Burchuk has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
