Basketball Recap: Trent Comes Up Short

Trent lost against Hermleigh back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Trent Gorillas took a blow against the Hermleigh Cardinals, falling 65-12. While losing is never fun, the Gorillas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1450th, while the Cardinals are ranked 181st).

Trent has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Hermleigh, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 27-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trent will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Highland at 6:15 p.m. on February 4th. Hermleigh has already played their next game (against Ira), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
