Softball Game Preview: Carondelet Cougars vs. James Logan Colts

The Carondelet Cougars will square off against the James Logan Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Carondelet is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Archie Williams a 7-0 shutout.

Maia Scholtens looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Arielle Henriquez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Meanwhile, James Logan had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Colts have posted since March 29th.

Nevaeh Hall-Flores was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. Ava Medellin was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

James Logan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Carondelet has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for James Logan, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6-1.
