Basketball Recap: Smithson Valley Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Smithson Valley Rangers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Boerne Greyhounds. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boerne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julien Hartman, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Hartman a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Cash McPeak, who had ten points.

Smithson Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Boerne, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Smithson Valley and Boerne could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Smithson Valley (ranked 214th) will meet Pieper (ranked 96th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Boerne (ranked 212th) will meet Boerne-Champion (ranked 44th) at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
