Baseball Game Preview: Springstead Eagles vs. Crystal River Pirates

The Springstead Eagles will face off against the Crystal River Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springstead's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four games, but Friday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Springstead came up short against Crystal River and fell 4-1.

For Crystal River's part, McKown Kaden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. Kaden has become a key player for the Pirates: the team is 6-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Jesse Paul was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Cade Wentworth was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Springstead's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Crystal River, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
