Basketball Game Preview: Russell Red Devils vs. South Laurel Cardinals

Having just played yesterday, the Russell Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the South Laurel Cardinals at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Russell's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

On Sunday, Russell made easy work of Rockcastle County and carried off a 74-52 victory. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Rockets are ranked 114th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Laurel not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th (when they won 54-18). They were the clear victors by a 61-40 margin over Owen County. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

South Laurel's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Russell, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
