Volleyball Recap: Lugoff-Elgin Comes Up Short

Lugoff-Elgin was the 2-0 winner over Gilbert when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Demons fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Lugoff-Elgin sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 23-25, 15-9.

Gilbert found their leader in freshman Abigail Widmann, who had 17 digs and two aces.

Lugoff-Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Gilbert, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lugoff-Elgin will venture away from home to face off against West Florence at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Gilbert and North Augusta will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give the Indians their first taste of in-conference action this season.
