Softball Game Preview: Millsap Bulldogs vs. Tolar Rattlers

Millsap hasn't had much luck against Tolar recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Rattlers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Millsap will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Dublin on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Lions 11-3. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.

Allie Reynolds was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Cori Ground was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sabrina Harrison, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Tolar hadn't done well against Breckenridge recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rattlers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Buckaroos. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rattlers.

Lillie Uselton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lane Gardner, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Ava Massey was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Millsap's record is now 11-8-1. As for Tolar, their record now sits at 12-10.

Millsap suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Tolar in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
