Softball Recap: Charlestown Gets the Win

Charlestown hadn't done well against Silver Creek recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Pirates walked away with an 8-5 win over the Dragons. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 13-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Hannah Burns made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ashtyn Sheppard was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aleyah Glotzbach, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Charlestown's record now sits at 5-2. As for Silver Creek, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlestown will venture away from home to square off against Bedford North Lawrence at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Silver Creek, they will head out to face off against South Oldham at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
