Basketball Recap: Karlee Floyd and Ella Larkin Secure Win for Mclean County

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Daviess County, McLean County was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 51-37 victory over the Hancock County Hornets. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

McLean County was led to victory by Ella Larkin and Karlee Floyd. Larkin dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds, while Floyd went 5-for-12 on her way to 12 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Larkin continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenadi Level, who posted seven points.

McLean County's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Hancock County, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLean County will wrap up 2025 with a road trip to face off against Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hancock County, they will venture away from home to challenge Southern at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
