Marshall is 9-1 against Mountain View since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Marshall will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Marshall is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering La Canada just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 2-1. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Caleb Thatcher put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Marshall got a good showing from Michael Gerst, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Gerst has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Mountain View fell victim to Covina and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Colts, falling 11-0.

Marshall's record now sits at 5-2-1. As for Mountain View, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Marshall has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Marshall's way against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Marshall made off with an 8-0 win. Will Marshall repeat their success, or does Mountain View has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
