Basketball Game Preview: Tuscola Mountaineers vs. West Henderson Falcons

Tuscola and West Henderson are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Tuscola Mountaineers will head out on the road to take on the West Henderson Falcons at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Tuscola and 11 for West Henderson.

Tuscola fought the good fight in their overtime match against Smoky Mountain on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Mustangs 84-80. One positive for the Mountaineers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Tuscola got top-tier performance from Gavin Chouinard, who went 11 for 18 on his way to 34 points. Those 34 points gave Chouinard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Ferguson, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, West Henderson came up short against Franklin on Tuesday, falling 70-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Falcons have suffered against the Panthers since February 4, 2022.

Tuscola's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for West Henderson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Tuscola took a serious blow against West Henderson in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 88-53. Can Tuscola avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
