Recap: St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions vs. Walton Raiders

The St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 41-40 win over Walton. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory St. Pius X Catholic has managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Walton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Graycen Ehlen. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points. Ehlen scored a full 35% of Walton's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Chloe Nicholson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Walton were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

St. Pius X Catholic's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-6. As for Walton, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

St. Pius X Catholic will play host again and welcome Riverwood, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Riverwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday. Walton is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Blessed Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Blessed Trinity has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
