Basketball Recap: NCSSM: Morganton Comes Up Short

NCSSM: Morganton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 65-39 to the Owen Warhorses. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 606th, while the Warhorses are ranked 235th).

Asante Martin was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards for Owen. What's more, Martin also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Jack Wesley Burk was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points.

NCSSM: Morganton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Owen, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. NCSSM: Morganton will welcome Draughn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Owen, they will host Avery County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
