Franklin is a perfect 3-0 against Newton South since November of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Lions at 7:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Franklin comes in on 16 and Newton South on three.

Franklin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Sunday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Andover.

While Franklin won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 25-8.

Franklin can attribute much of their success to Emma Cunningham, who had eight digs and four aces. That's the most aces Cunningham has posted since back in September.

Cunningham wasn't the only good servers: Franklin was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Newton South faced Brookline in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lions walked away with a 3-1 win over the Warriors. The game was the first time the Lions have beaten the Warriors on their court since September 14, 2023.

Franklin's victory bumped their record up to 21-2. As for Newton South, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.

Everything went Franklin's way against Newton South when the teams last played back in September, as Franklin made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
