Basketball Recap: Ellinwood Comes Up Short

Ellinwood lost against Victoria back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ellinwood Eagles were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to the Victoria Knights. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Ellinwood had strong showings from Drake Hosman, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds, and Landon Simpson, who posted 17 points and six boards. Simpson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played.

Ellinwood's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Victoria, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ellinwood will take on Hoisington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ellinwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season. As for Victoria, they will square off against Macksville at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. Macksville also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 64.9 points per game.
