Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln Southeast). They enjoyed a cozy 82-66 victory over the Millard West Wildcats on Thursday. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Wildcats are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mike Ngoyi was his usual excellent self, going 11-for-17 on his way to 31 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 40.8% three-point shooting accuracy. Chewy Thoat was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 15 points.
Despite the defeat, Millard West saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cade Walker went 7-for-8 to rack up 17 points and five rebounds. Walker is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter LaBorde, who went 5-for-6 on his way to 12 points.
Lincoln Southeast's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Millard West, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
