Softball Recap: Centennial Cougars vs. Summit Spartans
Centennial had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it four. They came up short against the Summit Spartans, falling 14-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in March.
As for Summit, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-11. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Summit's part, they got a great performance from Addison Johnson as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, Johnson posted four strikeouts, the most she's had over her last nine matches.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tarek Scherr, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniya Hunter, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will welcome Brentwood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summit, they will take on Eagleville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
