Baseball Recap: Connersville's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Greensburg typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Connersville proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Pirates. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Gavin Brannon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Connersville is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Kolton DeBoard was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Connersville's win bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Greensburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.

Coming up, Connersville will take on Pendleton Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Greensburg, they will square off against Batesville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 4.1, the Bulldogs 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
