Softball Game Preview: Queen Creek Bulldogs vs. Gilbert Tigers

For the second straight game, Queen Creek will face off against Gilbert. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Queen Creek will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Queen Creek's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Gilbert with a sharp 15-0 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Reynolds and Charli Dixon did most of the damage at the plate: Reynolds went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Dixon fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Dixon has posted since back in February. Kayla Porter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Queen Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilbert only posted an OBP of .083.

Queen Creek pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gilbert, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-9.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Queen Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .382.
