Volleyball Recap: El Capitan Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

El Capitan waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Los Banos Tigers 3-0. That's more bragging rights for the Gauchos, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-15, 25-16.

El Capitan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Getsemani Guzman-Vega, who had four digs and three aces. That's the most digs Guzman-Vega has posted over his last eight matches.

Guzman-Vega wasn't the only good servers: El Capitan was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in three consecutive contests.

El Capitan's record is now 14-2. As for Los Banos, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. El Capitan will challenge rival Merced at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Los Banos is set to face off against their familiar foe Atwater at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
