Preview: St. Christopher's Saints vs. St. Anne's-Belfield Saints

St. Christopher is 2-8 against St. Anne's-Belfield since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The St. Christopher's Saints on the road again and play against the St. Anne's-Belfield Saints at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

St. Christopher's posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They breezed by Christchurch School on the road to the tune of 82-46. Given St. Christopher's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Christchurch School is ranked 139th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, St. Anne's-Belfield waltzed into their match on Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They claimed a resounding 76-45 victory over Fork Union Military Academy at home. St. Anne's-Belfield has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Chance Mallory was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 14 games he's played. Haoxiang Huang was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.

St. Christopher's has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for St. Anne's-Belfield, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3.

St. Christopher's was dealt a bruising 85-57 loss at the hands of St. Anne's-Belfield in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for St. Christopher's, John St. Germain (who scored 21 points along with six assists and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
