Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Jacksonville Christian Academy lost against Community Christian back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Jacksonville Christian Academy Conquerors were dealt an 88-51 loss at the hands of the Community Christian Cyclones. The Conquerors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-29.

Jacksonville Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pierson Santiago, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Evans, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.

Community Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jared Kovach out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 11 boards, and nine assists. Kovach continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Evan Gattis was another key player, going 10 of 15 on his way to 24 points and five assists.

Jacksonville Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Community Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Jacksonville Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-37 loss against Pamlico Christian Academy on the 10th. As for Community Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 101-66 win against Christ Covenant on the 9th.
