Basketball Game Preview: Saint Viator Lions vs. Buffalo Grove Bison

The Saint Viator Lions will challenge the Buffalo Grove Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Saint Viator is headed into Monday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were beaten by Marist 59-27 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the RedHawks are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buffalo Grove). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Elk Grove 59-26.

Buffalo Grove has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Saint Viator, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Everything came up roses for Saint Viator against Buffalo Grove in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-32 win. In that game, Saint Viator amassed a halftime lead of 39-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
