Basketball Recap: Eaton Takes a Loss

If Eaton was feeling good fresh off their 62-38 takedown of Northridge last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eaton Reds took a 47-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Classical Academy Titans on Thursday. The Reds were not able to make up for their loss to the Titans from their previous meeting back in February of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Eaton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Crew Haythorn posted 11 points and three steals. Those three steals gave Haythorn a new career-high. Ely Madaleno was another key player, putting up eight points.

The Classical Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ky Walker led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of David St. Marie, who put up 11 points.

Eaton now has a losing record at 1-2. As for The Classical Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Delta the next time they take the court. The Classical Academy will head out to face Delta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Eaton will host them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
