Softball Recap: Three Straight Home Victories for Calaveras

While Calaveras put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Big Valley Christian. The Red Hawks walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Lions. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 11-1 victory back in April.

The result came thanks to Kamryn Thornburg's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Clark, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Calaveras' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Big Valley Christian, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-16 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calaveras will square off against Linden at 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Big Valley Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against Summerville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
