Softball Recap: Clinton Prairie's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Clinton Prairie dropped their record down to 14-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos by a score of 9-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gophers of the 24-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Lily Coleman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexis Perez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI.

As for Lafayette Jefferson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.

On Lafayette Jefferson's side, Ahni Harper was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Looking ahead, Clinton Prairie will challenge Rossville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they will square off against North Newton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Bronchos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
