Basketball Recap: South Mountain Beats Maryvale for Their Third Straight Victory

South Mountain won the last time they faced Maryvale, and Bry'Ann Wiley did her part to make sure it happened again. The South Mountain Jaguars claimed a resounding 67-6 victory over the Maryvale Panthers thanks in part to Wiley, who posted 17 points. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Breanna Walters was another key player, putting up 11 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024.

The win was the third in a row for South Mountain, bringing their record for this year to 11-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Maryvale, they dropped their record down to 0-18 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Mountain will venture away from home to challenge Cesar Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cesar Chavez's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. As for Maryvale, they are taking a road trip to square off against Browne at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maryvale is facing Browne at the right time seeing as Browne is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
