Basketball Game Preview: Lugoff-Elgin Demons vs. Roswell Hornets

The Lugoff-Elgin Demons will take on the Roswell Hornets in a tournament on Friday. Lugoff-Elgin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.

Lugoff-Elgin is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Camden just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 48-46. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Demons came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 134th).

Despite their defeat, Lugoff-Elgin saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jernigan Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards, was perhaps the best of all. Kaleb Long was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Lugoff-Elgin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Roswell had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 60-55 victory over Alpharetta on Tuesday.

Roswell's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Lugoff-Elgin, the loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 7-3.
