Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Woodlawn Prep's Winning Streak

If Woodlawn Prep was feeling good fresh off their 55-34 takedown of Ben's Ford Christian last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Woodlawn Prep Wolfpack took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbia Academy Cougars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolfpack this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-54 back in November.

Despite the loss, Woodlawn Prep still got an impressive performance from Jack Carney, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 23 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Those 23 points gave Carney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braylon Reed, who posted nine points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Woodlawn Prep moved to 17-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Columbia Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodlawn Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tensas Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Columbia Academy also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Bowling Green at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
