Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Blackfoot

Blackfoot entered their tilt with Shelley on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Russets by a score of 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-9 last Tuesday.

Kylee Pratt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leah Mecham, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Sela Christiansen was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Blackfoot was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shelley only posted a batting average of .154.

Blackfoot's record is now 12-2. As for Shelley, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blackfoot will venture away from home to challenge Pocatello at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Shelley, they will head out to face off against Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Russets are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
