Soccer Game Preview: Whitnall vs. Pius XI Catholic

The Whitnall Falcons will challenge the Pius XI Catholic Popes on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Whitnall is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand St. John's Northwestern Military Academy a 5-0 shutout. Whitnall might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Pius XI Catholic entered their tilt with Shoreland Lutheran on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Pacers. Given Pius XI Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Shoreland Lutheran are ranked 88th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitnall's victory bumped their record up to 14-3-2. As for Pius XI Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 13-3-5.

Whitnall might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Pius XI Catholic in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Falcons were down 3-0.
