Basketball Recap: Walker Valley Takes a Loss

Walker Valley lost against Cleveland last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Walker Valley Mustangs had to suffer through a 53-16 loss at the hands of the Cleveland Blue Raiders. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.

Lauren Hurst was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 12 on her way to 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists for Cleveland. The matchup was Hurst's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariyah Huffman, who went 5 for 12 en route to 11 points and seven boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Walker Valley and nudges their season record down to 5-17. As for Cleveland, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4.

Walker Valley is taking a road trip to face off against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Oak Ridge will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Walker Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cleveland, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-13 win against Baylor on the 1st.
