Baseball Game Preview: Davis Sr. Blue Devils vs. Chowchilla Tribe

The Davis Sr. Blue Devils will be taking part in a tournament against the Chowchilla Tribe at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Davis Sr. is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Davis Sr. proved they can win big on Monday (they won by eight) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Redwood, sneaking past 6-4.

Chowchilla never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Placer on Monday. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Hillmen. With that victory, the Tribe brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Oliver Fuller was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Chowchilla is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise. Fuller was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Austin Lathrop and Davian Stephenson did most of the damage at the plate: Lathrop scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Stephenson scored two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Stephenson is becoming a predictor of Chowchilla's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-9 when he doesn't). Zayden Kobzoff was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Chowchilla hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Davis Sr.'s record is now 13-6-1. As for Chowchilla, their record now sits at 7-10.
