Football Game Preview: Calvary Chapel Grizzlies vs. Lancaster Baptist Eagles + Official Tickets

The Calvary Chapel Grizzlies are taking a road trip to face off against the Lancaster Baptist Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Calvary Chapel turned things around against Legacy College Prep on Thursday. They breezed past the Lions to the tune of 66-6. Considering the Grizzlies have won four contests by more than 37 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gilbert Samano produced another solid performance rushing for 85 yards and three scores on only six carries, while also throwing for 87 yards and a pair of TDs. He is becoming a predictor of Calvary Chapel's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 4-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Matthew Avila was in the mix too, providing the Grizzlies with two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Lancaster Baptist faced Desert Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles secured a 38-34 W over the Knights. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Calvary Chapel better keep an eye on Peyton Langley. He was instrumental in Lancaster Baptist's win, rushing for 185 yards and two scores on only 14 carries, while also picking up 71 receiving yards and one TD. What's more, Langley racked up 177.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tiago De Paula Rosa, who gained 94 total yards and two touchdowns.

Calvary Chapel's record now sits at 4-5. As for Lancaster Baptist, their record is now 6-3.

Calvary Chapel was dealt a bruising 62-12 defeat at the hands of Lancaster Baptist in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Grizzlies were down 55-12.
