Basketball Game Preview: Salem Seminoles vs. Jasper County Hurricanes

The Salem Seminoles will square off against the Jasper County Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Salem is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Salem came up short against South Atlanta and fell 66-53. While losing is never fun, the Seminoles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Hornets are ranked 111th).

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Jasper County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Towers on the road by a 66-52 margin.

Jasper County's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-10. As for Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Salem didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Jasper County when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 56-52 victory. Will Salem repeat their success, or does Jasper County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
