Football Recap: Groton School Falls to Portsmouth Abbey in First Game of Season

Groton School unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Portsmouth Abbey Ravens and fell 34-7. While losing is never fun, Groton School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 220th in Massachusetts, while Portsmouth Abbey is ranked 40th in Rhode Island).

Groton School and Portsmouth Abbey will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Groton School will square off against rival Roxbury Latin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Portsmouth Abbey is set to face off against their familiar foe Proctor Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
