Baseball Recap: Eight Straight Road Victories for Rowlett

Rowlett got themselves on the board against Lakeview Centennial on Friday, but Lakeview Centennial never followed suit. They blew past the Patriots 9-0. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

River Kirkhuff made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other pitching news, Tyler Holmes looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jeffrey Claycomb, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Parris, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Rowlett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Rowlett pushed their record up to 15-4-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Lakeview Centennial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
