Paraclete is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Brea Olinda 3-2.
Cole Mercier tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Paraclete saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abraham Perez, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Paraclete hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fullerton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Woodrow Wilson with a sharp 8-2 win on Thursday.
Fullerton also got a great performance from Declan Fitzgerald as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Fitzgerald has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Zach Fany was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Malachi Meni was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Fullerton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Paraclete, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-13.
