Softball Recap: Deming Comes Up Short

Deming was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Organ Mountain Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Jaylin Holguin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Breaney Chavez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Deming's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Organ Mountain, they pushed their record up to 6-3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deming will challenge Socorro at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Organ Mountain, they will take on Gadsden at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Gadsden will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Organ Mountain surely won't give up without a fight.
