Football Game Preview: Cooper Dragons vs. Kinkaid Falcons

The Cooper Dragons will venture away from home to challenge the Kinkaid Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cooper will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

On Friday, Cooper made easy work of Episcopal School of Dallas and carried off a 55-31 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.

It was another big night for Eric Sipko, who picked up 153 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 103.9 receiving yards per game.

Cooper was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 244 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

Cooper didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Pierson Todd and Blake Lopez. Cooper got some further help from Luke Horak: he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kinkaid beat Episcopal 28-24 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Cooper's record is now 7-0. As for Kinkaid, their record now sits at 6-2.

The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Cooper has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 276.6 passing yards per game. Kinkaid, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 189.5 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.

Cooper took a serious blow against Kinkaid when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 39-7. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
